Om Mikela
Hi! My name is Mikela, a Greek native speaker based in Copenhagen since 2017. I hold a degree in Primary Education, a Master’s in Teaching Greek as a Second/Foreign Language, and another master's in Anthropology of Education.
My passion for teaching Greek began in Cairo (2015), where I taught at the Greek Primary School and the Greek Cultural Centre, working with both children and adults learning Greek as a second or foreign language. Wanting to deepen my understanding and better support my students, I completed my master’s in teaching Greek as a second/foreign language.
I later moved to Copenhagen for my MA studies in Anthropology and have since worked in school settings. I currently teach at an international IB school, following a play-based approach with early years students who are bilingual or multilingual.
Alongside my school work, I also teach Greek and prepare a student for the Hellenic Language Certification exams.
My passion is to keep the Greek language and culture alive wherever you are, especially for children born and raised abroad with Greek roots, as well as adults who wish to reconnect or deepen their relationship with Greek, always through joy, play, and meaningful connection.

My teaching approach is learner-centred, playful, and meaningful. I believe language is best learned when it is lived, not memorised.
I use drama techniques and real-life situations to help students communicate naturally and confidently in Greek. Lessons are enriched with songs, articles, books, and games, allowing learners to engage with authentic language and culture in a joyful way.
Whether I teach children or adults, I adapt my lessons to each learner’s needs, interests, and goals, supporting bilingual and multilingual learners while creating a safe, motivating space where Greek comes to life.
Learning Greek should feel creative, relevant, and fun, and that’s exactly the experience I aim to offer.
