Om Bruno
I'm a plant scientist with a PhD in Botany and ten years of research experience, most recently as Assistant Professor at the University of Copenhagen. My work has taken me through universities in Brazil, the US and Denmark, always involving the same thing: taking complex science and making it click for someone else, whether that's a new PhD student or a curious teenager.
Outside the lab, I'm originally from Brazil, fluent in English and Portuguese, and currently building my Danish. I care about getting the basics genuinely solid rather than rushing ahead, and I believe most people who think they're "bad at science" just haven't had it explained the right way yet — that's usually all it takes.

My approach starts with figuring out where a student actually stands, not where the curriculum assumes they are. I ask questions early on to spot gaps, then explain concepts using everyday examples before moving into the technical language.
A typical lesson opens with a quick recap, moves into the topic broken into small, connected steps, and closes with a few problems solved together so I can see what's sticking. I adjust pace constantly rather than following a fixed script.
Ten years mentoring university students taught me patience with the "obvious" question and how to explain the same idea three different ways until one clicks. I teach biology, chemistry and general science from lower-secondary through university level, including exam prep and homework support.
