My name is Cosmin, and here is a little bit about me. My first introduction to the language was when I was 6 years old, having moved to England from abroad. I participated in private tutoring lessons before moving to England, but there is one key thing I remember from all of that. Stepping foot in an English school with English-speaking kids for the first time felt extra-terrestrial. It was as if the English I had learnt was completely different from theirs; their ways of shortening words and not pronouncing them fully, or their native phrases and humour gestures, is simply something that is not taught from an abroad perspective. And let's be honest, having to deal with the funny British accent speaks for itself. Ironically, at the end of it, I ended up helping and tutoring my friends in their own language.
I was not born in the UK, but despite this, many would not believe the fact that English is my second language unless I told them otherwise. Why am I telling you all of this? Well, because I want to visualise that English is not as hard as you think; once you get the hang of it, you can have some fun with it. I cannot promise you that you will get a funny British accent, as it took me most of my life to achieve it, but I guarantee that you will learn the tools necessary for you to be able to start your own journey, as I have been through it all myself. Not just the language, but you will get a sense of the country through learning about the culture, food, and traditions, to name a few. To put my money where my mouth is, I took the IELTS Academic test when moving to Denmark in order to study, and I showcased the highest level band of 8.5, or C2, essentially native level. As you know, there isn't a more highly regarded English test than that.
In my eyes, English is the most important language worldwide, unlocking more opportunities in life, so if you want to learn English here in Denmark from someone who is basically considered a Brit, then now is your chance. Who will join me?
