Om Alicia
Now, what about me?
I've been living in Aarhus for over 3 years. I've been teaching French and English since 2018. I have a bachelor in French language and media and a bachelor in English language, history and culture. After this I decided to further my teaching education and passed a degree to teach French as a foreign language (DAEFLE). I now have an additional master's degree in Intercultural Studies - French/English from Aarhus University.
I've always loved teaching. Children, teenagers and adults alike, I love sharing my passion for languages in a fun and inspirational way (I am a bit of a grammar and language nerd). I helped many people from all around the world, of all ages and levels to achieve their goal!
I've lived in many countries which has given me a sense of the importance of culture and cultural differences. This is why I try to incorporate that in my lessons. Finding similarities and differences and discuss them to better our understanding of each other's language and culture!

Bonjour !
My name is Alicia and I am a French and English teacher who loves languages and discovering new cultures.
Now, what about my methods? I always adapt my approach to the needs, goals and level of my student(s) but also their tastes! It's so essential to have fun when learning a new language. I like to base my classes on concrete practice as much as possible while teaching grammar in a more implicit way. I specialised my teacher training in "specific professional goals" meaning I can and am used to orient my classes towards a specific field or interest such as traveling, business, tourism etc.
All in all, no matter your background, the most important is to feel comfortable and I'm here to help! I try to make my teaching as fun and interactive as possible because it IS fun to learn a new language.
So, what would a class with me look like? Well typically, depending on your level, we start with a small chat about how you've been, how your weekend was, if you've watched any cool shows recently or tried a new restaurant, you know, just a casual chat! Then I always base my lesson on a document. It can be a movie, an article, a short video, a photo, anything. From that we do all sorts of exercises that will help you practice all aspects of the language. First, your listening and your reading to improve the understanding of the language and then, your speaking and your writing to practice actually using the language. Additionally, each lesson will focus on a grammar/language point which we develop throughout the class.
