Om Mette
My name is Mette Heitmann. I am a Danish Language teacher graduated from Aalborg University. I have over 10 years of extensive teaching experience as a language teacher delivering Danish classes to groups and individuals of varying skill levels.
I have worked at companies such as Nokia, Copenhagen University, DTU, Sydbank, Dansk Røde Kors and for language schools such as AIS Sprog, BLS, FOF, Studieskolen.
I have particularly strong knowledge of Danish grammar and pronunciation. I teach grammar as an important approach to understand and learn to use the Danish language and I teach pronunciation as the most important element of spoken Danish.
A lot of people are interested in passing the language exams from the Danish state to get permission to stay in Denmark. I have good experience with taking people to the exams.

There are 3 elements which are important in my teaching.
1. The sound of the Danish language.
2. The grammar of the Danish language.
3. Communication
The sound of the Danish language.
An important characteristica of the Danish language is the difference between its written and spoken form. Danes write differently compared to how they speak and the language has 20 vowel nuances, which mix.
You can not learn to speak the language by trying to say the words as they appear ind there written form. You have to start to listen to the sound of the language; more concrete the melody of the language.

The grammar of the Danish language.
Grammar is not considered as a truth image, as if you know the grammar you know the language. Grammar is a tool by which you can get to know a language and learn to master it.
We work practically. How do we construct sentences and there by communicative actions? How do we speak in the present, express the future and the past? How do we describe thing? Etc.
Through the grammar you will get to know the language.
Communication.
Why do we want to speak a new language? Because we want to interact and communicate with our surroundings.
When I teach Danish I do it with communication as the main ingredient.
We work with the language where we use it or where we would like to be able to use it – in various everyday communicative situations.
