Om Zacarias
I’m a Copenhagen-based guitarist, songwriter, producer, vocalist and multi-instrumentalist working primarily across soul, R&B, funk and jazz. My musical journey began early. At 11, I joined the Copenhagen Royal Chapel Choir as a soloist, working with classical repertoire while studying piano. At 15, I was admitted to the pre-conservatory MGK programme at Sankt Annæ Gymnasium, where jazz and improvisation became central to my musical development. Since the early 2010s, I have built a career across live performance, songwriting, production and studio recording.
My work has brought me into live and studio collaborations with musicians and artists including Larry Graham, Eliel Lazo, Jørgen Klubien, Mathias Heise, MonoNeon, Burhan G, Skyler Jett, L.I.G.A. and Andrew Gouché. As a musician, I’m particularly interested in groove, harmony, melody, improvisation and the interaction between musicians. These are also elements I bring into my teaching. I teach in both English and Danish.

I teach guitar, bass and keyboard to beginners, intermediate and advanced students, with lessons tailored to your individual level, musical interests and goals. My main musical background is in soul, R&B, and funk/jazz. Rather than following one fixed method, I adapt the lessons to what you want to achieve as a musician.
For guitar students, we can work with:
- Improvisation and soloing Chords,
- Voicings and chord progressions
- Rhythm and groove
- Technique and phrasing
- Harmony and music theory
- Ear training
- Jazz standards
- Songwriting and composition
I place particular emphasis on understanding the language of music rather than simply memorising shapes, scales or songs. We can explore how harmony works, how to find your own voice when improvising, how rhythm and phrasing affect a performance, and how even a few carefully chosen notes can completely change the character of a chord or melody. Most importantly, the lessons are shaped around you. Whether you are picking up an instrument for the first time, want to break out of familiar playing habits, develop your improvisation, understand harmony on a deeper level, or simply become a more confident musician, we will build the lessons around where you are and where you want to go.
