I've known Andrei for many years, since he was a student at Harvard. I highly recommend him as a teacher – Andrei has always been amazing at explaining concepts, from the simplest to the most complicated. Furthermore, I was impressed at his understanding and deep passion for statistics and for research topics that relate to stats. Whenever I had a question about such topics, Andrei was very patient in explaining it, and really helped me get the intuition behind difficult concepts through examples and visualizations. He has a great way of weaving math and its applications to different domains, such as economics, computer science, and statistics, and is very rigorous in his understanding of the fundamental math concepts behind different theories.

Because my background is more in literature and cultural studies, I was initially overwhelmed by the statistics problems I encountered in statistics in my cognitive sciences major.
I learned with Andrei to take even the most complex statistics problems step by step. In a methodical and accessible approach, we deconstructed each task together, saw what the logical steps were, and in turn established the operations needed to get to the essence of each situation. In this way, I started to solve each new statistics problem more autonomously and faster.
Through this practical method, I also managed to learn the theoretical concepts better and anchor them in my long-term memory.

We established a really good work rhythm, and our meetings were efficient, since Andrei always focused on approaching the problems that posed the greatest difficulty first. I really enjoyed our lessons, which I believe is mostly because I felt relaxed, yet also serious and encouraged to work. The purpose of our meetings was preparation for the SAT exam, and my test score improved significantly after those.
