Om María
Almost 10 years ago, I was lucky enough to be "forced" to take a Latin class as part of my high school education in Humanities. That was the beginning of my deep interest in grammar and the sctructure of diffent languages.
It doesn't sounds super appealing, I know. But don't worry, because if there is something that interests me even more is how to make "boring" things fun. I studied Art History because I loved museums, but I sometimes found them quite tedious to visit, so I wanted to make them more interactive. Along the process to get there, I moved to Denmark and discovered that learning languages could also be very boring - or very fun, depending on how you approached it.
I taught Spanish to some friends in exchange for a bit of help with my Danish, and I started to prepare learning materials for the attendees of the language exchange I organised. That was how I discovered something very obvious: learning is about motivation, and it is really difficult to stay motivated to do something you don't enjoy. That's why, when teaching Spanish, my focus is on making it enjoyable, along with effective in getting you to actually speak the language.

Hi! My name is Maria and I am from Spain.
For me, the whole point of learning a new language is to be able to communicate, so that's what I like to focus on. Grammar is important (especially if you are preparing for an exam), but it is easy to lose motivation if you feel like, after months of Spanish lessons, the only thing you can say is "¡una cerveza, por favor!".
That's why the starting point for me is always about finding out why my students want to learn Spanish. Are you going to Mallorca this summer and would like to talk to the locals? I will teach you not only how to do it, but also all the traditional Spanish food you should try!
Or maybe you are just trying to pass an exam and not really interested on the language itself, but, on the other hand, have a passion for videogames? In that case, we will practice grammar using videogame reviews in Spanish and I will recommend you the best Spanish streamers on Twitch to practice your listening!
