Om Mathias
I’m an experienced Unity game developer from Denmark with over 8 years of game industry experience. I’ve worked on PC, Mobile and VR games, both small and big. Recently, worked 4 years for a company, where we made a digital card game set in the Doctor Who universe. On this project, my main focus was creating the battle scene and everything that encompasses, but it was a smaller team so I worked on pretty much all aspects of the game.
Throughout my education, places I’ve worked, and spare time, I’ve gathered enough knowledge about the full game development pipeline, that I am confident in tackling any personal game project I want to make, and this is where I want you to get to too.
I can make my own 3D assets, texture, rig, and animate them. Afterwards, they get setup and integrated into Unity, where I implement the code functionality, custom shaders, materials, and anything else it needs. Create 2D sprites, set them up as flexible UI pieces for menus and in-game overlays. Combining and mixing sounds and audio to give the game life. And finally export the game. So, I can help you with any part of the development cycle, that you need to learn.

For complete beginners or intermediates in Unity.
Where most tutorials out there just tell you to “write this, to do this”, I will actually teach you what everything you’re writing does in an easy and relatable way, with real world examples. You are learning a coding language and like with any language, you can learn how to say one sentence, or learn what each word does, so you can use it in other sentences and aren’t stuck on that one sentence.
I will approach the teaching with a natural progression, so first, we’ll learn what data types we have, then how we can change them with code, and lastly, we’ll learn how to actually use those techniques to create gameplay and game mechanics.
This will be a very interactive course, there will be questionnaires to test you and ensure you learned what you should, it’ll also help you learn how to bugfix, as that is often overlooked. There will also be “do it yourself” challenges, where I will only explain what we’re trying to achieve, but how we get there, is all on you. This is the best way to learn, instead of just listening.
At the end of the beginner course, you will have made your first small game, and with what you learned here, you'll be able to make games like Flappy Bird, Pong Brick Games, Pac-Man, Tetris or similar games.
If you want lessons on how to make any of these games, we can do that too. Where every lesson will be us breaking down an individual feature, and you'll be getting a "do it yourself" challenge, to try and make it. Then we'll run through yours first and then mine to compare and learn.
We can also step it up and start the intermediate course and start learning how to make more advanced games.
I will be able to teach in Danish or English, and if you are a group of people who want to learn and split the bill, we can make a small classroom.
