Om Jia
My name is Jia, a passionate cellist and teacher. I began teaching cello at the age of 19 and have since gained extensive experience in one-on-one lessons as well as coaching cello ensembles.
During my student years, I was a performing member at the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing, participating in numerous concerts and projects. I am currently based in Copenhagen, pursuing my Master’s degree in cello performance at the Royal Danish Academy of Music, and I am active as a soloist and chamber musician.
I am deeply passionate about teaching and believe that every student has a unique voice and learning path. Whether you are a beginner, intermediate player, or preparing for music academy entrance exams, I tailor each lesson to your individual abilities, interests, and goals. Lesson content includes technical fundamentals (scales, etudes, sonatas), stylistic interpretation, and musical expression.
I also encourage students to develop creativity through music. For children and young learners, I incorporate elements of the Suzuki method in a relaxed, inspiring way that helps them build a healthy, joyful relationship with the cello.
Recently, I led the cello section at the Royal Danish Academy of Music in an opera collaboration with the Copenhagen Opera Academy, where I also contributed to the technical and musical guidance during rehearsals. This experience has further strengthened my skills in group instruction and musical collaboration.
